The Weekly Round Up #6

week4700

Hello, readers, how’s it hanging? This week on the blog I posted a traditional Bangladeshi shutki aka dried fish curry here and a warming butternut squash, red cabbage and spinach veggie stir fry here.

I  have have been on a bit of a reading binge for the last few days, I’ve pretty much inhaled several crime/mystery novels. Though this probably in part can be attributed to the recent grey weather, I’m a real sucker for a WhoDunnit. Sometimes, I can guess the murderer early on, but I love shocking twists and climatic reveals at the end. Do you guys also enjoy curling up with a book and a hot beverage on these autumnal days?

And now onto the blogger recipes that have caught my eye this week as well as some great Etsy finds which would make a great purchase for you or a loved one.

5 Blogger Recipes

  1. Zucchini Boats by Brewing Bliss – Lasagna Style zucchini boats stuffed with ground beef and lots of veggies, perfect dinner if like me you’ve been indulging in too many carbs recently…
  2. Mishti Doi by Tara’s Multicultural Table – One of my favourite Bengali desserts, sweet yoghurt, baked in the oven and topped with jewel like pomegranates.
  3. Stovetop Mac and Cheese with Butternut Squash and Mushrooms by The Spice Life – Because curling up on a cold day with a bowl of mac and cheese with autumnal veggies sounds pretty much amazing to me.
  4. Blueberry and Pistachio Overnight Oats by The Foodie Fix – Overnight oats was possibly one of my greatest breakfast discoveries, but just wait until you see the regal purple colour of these blueberry oats!
  5. Palestinian Za’ataar Rolls by Niv’s Kitchen – Deliciously puffy and golden rolls made from semolina and wheat featuring the classic Middle Eastern spice blend za’ataar.

5 Etsy Finds

  1. Za’ataar – And just in case you’re wondering where to get your hands on za’atar, you can buy it online from here. They’re based in the US but ship internationally.
  2. Rustic Kitchen iPad Holder – If like me, you often use your electronic gadget in the kitchen whilst following a recipe, and then end up getting flour/sugar/water all over it every time you pick it up, you might want to look into one of these!
  3. Terracotta Clay Dutch Oven – This would be great for getting that satisfying crunch on your bakes. It would also be great to make some traditional Bengali sweet yoghurt.
  4. Stoneware Souffle Cup – Perfect for baking a souffle in or for sipping on soup on a cold, wet day.
  5. White Chocolate and Macadamia Cookie Mix in a Jar – This would make such an adorable gift, especially for a slightly lazy baker like me (hint hint members of my family reading this).

As always, the background used in the graphic above can be downloaded as a part of a set from my Etsy Store here
